Sprite Patterns December Day 25: The Six Doctors

Hello, everyone, and merry Christmas! I was going to wait until after the Doctor Who Christmas special had aired here in the US before doing this post, since it'll be outdated in the UK the moment that I post it, but I got a new Pokemon game this morning, so I am posting now and getting it done! For today, my goal was to finish sprite patterns of all of the Doctors from Doctor Who, as I was talking about yesterday. Here in the United States, I have accomplished that goal for the next few hours, meaning that when most of you read this, I will no longer have been successful. (If we get to see his specific outfit, I might have Peter Capaldi posted within the next couple of days. If you guys have any other Doctor Who character requests, let me know so I don't end up posting him alone! I know a couple of characters I can post with him if there's none you guys ask for.) For now, though, I am pretty happy with these, so here are today's patterns!

The first Doctor that I'm posting in my quest to fill in the blanks of this set is, oddly enough, William Hartnell, the first Doctor. I like making sprite patterns in black and white, but if you guys want a color version of him, let me know! I have the color version of Patrick Troughton for the end of this post, so I did not totally ignore you the last time that this happened. When I stitch this, though, I'm going to make this version of him.
The next pattern for today is of the third Doctor, Jon Pertwee. I finished this pattern quite a while ago, since I wanted to make the fancy cape, but kept forgetting to post it. It's finally up here now, though, so I hope it can be put to good use!
Here is the pattern for Sylvester McCoy, the seventh Doctor, which requires more floss colors than the rest of these do, several of which are different shades of brown. This was the most difficult of the patterns I worked on yesterday by a lot, so I hope that it's recognizable. He fits in with my row of Doctor Who patterns pretty well, though, so he can't be that bad.
For this pattern, featuring the eighth Doctor, played by Paul McGann, I didn't have to work too hard to decide how to make his outfit, because there were about two existing promotional photos of him for the TV movie. Next to the pattern of River Song, he has the most elaborate hair of any of the Doctor Who patterns, and, in fact, it was the most difficult hairstyle to get to look proper since I made the pattern of Skyler White, for the Breaking Bad set. I doubled some of the colors for the hair and the clothes to keep the color count down, but I think it'll still look okay.
For today's last brand new pattern, here is John Hurt's character from the 50th anniversary special! I wasn't sure what to call him for the pattern, but the internet seems to have settled on calling him the War Doctor as a way to avoid a massive nerd renumbering spree, so I decided to take advantage of that. I'm not sure if any of you guys wanted this as part of the set, but I wanted this pattern, so here it is!

For today's final pattern, here is the color version of the second Doctor that I promised above! The colors on this pattern are really bright, so it is fairly different from the black and white version of the chart. Like I said, if you guys want a color version of the first Doctor, I can do that, too, hopefully a bit more quickly! I actually did make this pattern the day after it was first requested, but just haven't posted it until now.

After all six of those new patterns, I am done for today! I hope that you guys like the patterns, and that you had either a merry Christmas or a really nice Wednesday! Tomorrow, I'll have some more sprite patterns, but for now, I am going to play video games!

Sprite Patterns December Day 26: More Stuff I Mostly Made For Myself That Maybe You Will Like, Too

Hello! Today, I was going to wait until later to do a blog post, but then I got bored while I was sorting colored rubber bands into different compartments of a box, so I'm doing it now! Yesterday's post of patterns was pretty big, so today I'm just posting some Robotech stuff. I used to feel bad when I did this, but now that I have been told that some of you guys reading this blog also like Robotech, it seems okay. Today I have three characters from the second season, though, the Southern Cross stuff, so I may have just erased all of your goodwill! I have quite a few of them ready to go, but for today, I'm posting Marie and Nova, since I posted Dana about a year ago and want to finish off the patterns of the military captain girls (I'm not sure if that's their actual rank, but it gets the point across), and then one of Musica, because she has an 80s anime big head sprite pattern, and I'm proud of it. I posted six Doctor Who patterns yesterday, though, so these things happen.

I'm done with posting now, but I'll have more patterns for you guys tomorrow! I'm not sure if it'll be more or less exciting than this, but the cross stitch patterns will, indeed, be on the internet and ready to stitch. Have a lovely day!

Sprite Patterns December Day 27: Some Stuff

Hello! I'm not going to do a very big post tonight, since I'm sleepy and watching TV, but I still have some patterns to post! I'm not sure what's in my still-to-post folder, but I know that I have over 70 patterns in there, so there's no danger that this post will be empty!

First, here is a pattern of Serena, the female player character from Pokemon X/Y! I didn't know her name when I did this pattern, so it's not labeled properly. Plus, she's just in her basic outfit, since I hadn't played the game yet and didn't know how many clothes you could buy for her. I still like this pattern, though, so I hope she is useful to someone!
My next pattern, because I know he was the most wanted character from anything, is of Turnip from Chrono Cross. I really like this pattern, and made it quite a while ago, but am just posting it now. I actually have to make some more Chrono Cross charts now in order to keep posting them, though, so that's a bit disappointing. It should be fun, though!
I am starting to type words inside out and backwards, which does not bode well for the fact that I'm about to go e-mail people, but to finish this post off, here is a pattern of SNK's Athena, in her faux Greek swimsuit outfit from SNK vs. Capcom and Neo Geo Battle Coliseum. I have actually stitched this, with purple satin floss for her hair, and it came out really well, which was cool. She's up with my other SNK fighting game pattern standees in my dorm room, a set which I am quite proud of.

I am done for tonight, but have plenty of requests to work on, so I'll have no trouble coming up with a post for tomorrow. Until then, have a nice day!

Sprite Patterns December Day 28: Some Characters From Aveyond

Hello! It's day 28 of Sprite Patterns December, so it's getting really close to the end of the month! For myself, I keep making patterns of characters from anime about pop stars, and am working on a giant, brightly colored, sparkly cross stitch from AKB0048 (I know that it's stupid, but it's about idol singers fighting an anti-pop music government in outer space, so I don't care) that I might show a WIP of here before the month is over. I hadn't been posting many WIP photos on here because I thought that my current computer had no SD card slot, but it turned out that I was an idiot and it did have one, right in front, so I can do that again!

Regardless of all of that, though, I wanted to use tonight's post for some requested patterns! Towards the start of the month, I got some requests for characters from an RPG called Aveyond. I don't have all of the requested characters done yet, because I am slow, but for tonight, I do have patterns of Mel, Edward, and Stella. I haven't played any of the Aveyond games before, and had a bit of trouble finding production art for them, so these patterns were made from a combination of their in-game sprites and character portraits. With Mel, I was lucky enough to find a title screen, so her outfit should be pretty accurate. For Edward and Stella, though, I ended up looking at little sprites and trying to decide a lot of details for myself, so they might be a bit weird for fans of the games. I like these quite a bit, though. Mel uses a color scheme that isn't very common for characters from anything, and Stella's long hair and fluffy dress are cute. Plus, I don't make suits of armor often, so Edward was cool to make, too. All of them should be pretty normal to stitch or use for perler beading, so here are tonight's patterns!

I am done for tonight, and not quite sure what I'll post tomorrow, but I'll do my best to post something cool! Until then, have a good day and good luck with your crafting stuff!

Sprite Patterns December Day 29: Even More Pokemon Stuff

Hello! Today, I wasn't sure what I was going to post, but I wanted to make some new Pokemon sprite patterns, so those are what I have for you guys! I felt like I did pretty well with the Pokemon who were pretty much built like people, so I wanted to try making a couple of them that didn't at all fit my template. I ended up making these patterns from scratch, but in the end, I think that they fit the other sprite patterns very well! Plus, if you've stitched a trainer, it could be cool to stitch a Pokemon for them, too. The only problem is that so far, your only options are the Pokemon that I've already posted and, from today's post, Bellsprout, which I chose because it is great, and Fennekin, which I chose because I picked it as my starter in X and Y. I plan to make more of these, so if you have a favorite Pokemon that you'd like to see me screw up, let me know! For now, here are today's two very quick to stitch charts.

For tonight, I have nothing more to post! I'm going to do more stitching and continue watching the marathon of all of the episodes of Breaking Bad and post again tomorrow. Until then, have a nice evening!

Sprite Patterns December Day 30: The Last of the Current Cardcaptor Sakura Pattern Set

Hello! Today is the next to last day of Sprite Patterns December, so it seemed like a good idea to post the last of the Cardcaptor Sakura patterns that I've been tormenting you guys with for the last year. The three that I had left in the set worked out well, since I ended up with a cute wandering-around-town outfit, one of her insane battling outfits, and then a really boring school outfit. I really have no idea if anyone is stitching or beading these or not, though I've made a couple of them, but the outfits are really frilly and fun to pixel, so I'm probably going to make more of them at some point. If you have been following this set, though, I hope that you like these patterns and that I'm not accidentally double posting any of them!

Tomorrow will be the end of Sprite Patterns December, so I will be back for another post then! Until that happens, have a nice next to last day of 2013, or last day, for some readers!

Sprite Patterns December Day 31: More Requests and My Current WIP

Hello! It's the last day of Sprite Patterns December here at Dork Stitch, and for next year, or, to be more accurate, the next couple of weeks, I have a lot of cool stuff planned. I have some new big patterns to post, and, as far as sprite patterns go, I have a lot of requests to post and some hosts of fake talk shows, too. For today, however, my computer and I are locked in a terrible battle, so I am going to post a few requested Vocaloid patterns that I've had in storage and call it a day! I've mentioned it before, but I did my first set of these patterns when I'd just started making sprite patterns, so they didn't look so great. After I got some new requests, however, I decided to try again and, this time, the Vocaloids ended up looking much better! For today, I have Miku and Rin, with an alternate and much fancier alternate outfit for each of them. I hope that you guys like them!

Before I go today, I'm going to post a photo of my current project, which I'm hoping will be my first finish of 2014! It's of one of the silhouettes from the anti-idol singer signs posted by the government on AKB0048, which is a fluffheaded anime that I watched the first season of last semester. I'm stitching it on 7 count plastic canvas with glittery yarn, so she's about 22 inches tall, which is cool. It's going pretty quickly, too, so I think I can finish in the next couple of days. Here is the project so far, though.
I am done for today, and the month, but it'll only be a couple of days before I post again! Until then, have a happy start to 2014 and good luck with all of your crafts!

My First Finished Cross Stitch of 2014

Hello! A couple of days ago, I posted a WIP photo of a plastic canvas cross stitch I was working on, featuring a silhouette of an idol singer from AKB0048, an anime about a wildly misguided futuristic government that's being overthrown by a girl group that doesn't actually seem to be all that good. I thought then that I'd be able to finish the project within a couple of days, and, thanks in part to a Breaking Bad marathon on AMC, I actually did it! The photo that I took for this post, by my standards, at least, isn't even that bad.

I made the pattern for this project and cross stitched it onto two sheets of 7 count plastic canvas with glittery yarn, which doesn't really show up in this picture. After I finished stitching her, which I started in October, and cut her out, I used some silver yarn on the edges, so she'd be a little less flimsy, which seemed to work. The project ended up being about 22 inches tall, which was bigger than some confusingly bad math I'd done had led me to believe it would be, but that was actually pretty cool. Anyway, here is a slightly fuzzy photo of the finished project!
If any of you guys want the pattern for this project, let me know in the comments and I will post it! It was cool to make such a big project without completely ruining it, so I might do another giant plastic canvas thing.

This is the only thing I have to post today, but I will have some new patterns soon. Until then, I hope that you guys are starting your new year off well and having good luck with your crafting stuff!

A Pattern of Ein From Cowboy Bebop and a Fuzzy Photo of an Unfinished Project

Hello! Yesterday, I sat around and made cross stitch patterns of mascot characters from different anime, so today, I am going to post one of the four patterns that I finished. I would post more than one of them, but I'm hoping to stretch these patterns out for as many posts as possible, despite the fact that I plan to make more of them. For today, however, I am posting the pattern of Ein from Cowboy Bebop, which is probably the most realistic pattern in the set. I didn't think that this pattern would go well at all, but in the end, I think that it ended up looking okay! Plus, if you're not into anime, this could be a perfectly serviceable portrait pattern of a corgi, so for dog lovers, this pattern may also be useful. It's about 90 by 90 stitches, so it could take a while to stitch, but if any of you decide to make it, I'm sure that I will be shocked by your speed and ability to focus! Anyway, I hope that you guys like this pattern, and the other mascot characters I'm going to be posting. I'm trying to keep the sizes relatively consistent, so they might work as an okay set.
Because it was so exciting the last time that I did this, I'm posting a WIP photo of my new cross stitch project made artificially bigger with the use of seven count plastic canvas! This project comes from Big Stitch Cross Stitch, a book of patterns by Jacqui Pearce, and in the end, it's going to be a picture of a cassette tape with some of the tape unraveling from it in an unrealistically artistic fashion. Right now, however, my version of this is a few pink stripes and even fewer orange ones, both of which are much more neon than the designer originally intended. Working on it actually kind of sucks so far. I am posting this in order to keep myself going on the project, though, so the next time that I post, I will hopefully have another, slightly clearer, photo with more stripes in more colors.
For today, I am done, but I will be back soon with more patterns and another photo of my current project! Until then, have a nice day where, hopefully, you stay warm, and good luck with your craft stuff!

Another Mascot Character Pattern, This Time from Sailor Moon!

Hello! I wanted to post today, even though I don't have all that much to say, so I'm putting up another one of my anime mascot character cross stitch patterns. I wasn't sure which one I was going to post earlier today, but since I'm wearing a Sailor Moon T-shirt, I guess that I'll post Luna. This is one of the easier to stitch patterns in the set so far, since Sailor Moon did not have remarkably detailed or expensive animation, with a large amount of the pattern just being taken up by her whiskers, but I think that it should end up being really cute. It was sort of hard to choose if I wanted to make Luna look cheerful or like she wanted to murder Sailor Moon, but since I have a more bloodthirsty mascot character ready for a future post, I ended up making a pattern where she looked happier. At some point in the future, I'd like to make this pattern, and I hope that you guys like it, too!
With Luna posted and ready for you guys to stitch, it's time for another blurry photo of my plastic canvas mixtape picture, stitched from Jacqui Pearce's book Big Stitch Cross Stitch. It's getting less tedious to work on, and I'm almost done with the third set of stripes now. Plus, it looks like absolutely nothing up close, which was discouraging, but when I took this photo, I could actually see how the curled up tape from inside the cassette was going to look! I'm actually a little more excited about working on this now that I could see that. I don't think that this project will take too much longer, but I probably won't have it done before my next post.
For now, I am done posting, but I still have more mascot characters to post and more sprite patterns to do, too! The Academy Award nominations come out next week, so I'll be doing twenty patterns after that, one for each of the acting nominees, and I have a ton of requests to do and post, too. Until then, have a nice day and good luck with your craft stuff!

Sprite Patterns of the 2014 Academy Award Nominees for Best Supporting Actress

$

Hello! Just as I did last year, I am making sprite patterns for every acting nominee at this year's Academy Awards! I've gotten an earlier start on the project this year, since the nominations just came out yesterday, so this time, I'm hoping to actually finish stitching all of them either before or during the actual airing of the Academy Awards, instead of a couple of days afterwards. Even if I don't finish on time, though, this was a fun project last year, so it should be cool again.

For today's post, I have the five nominees for Best Supporting Actress. I had a few of these done ahead of time, since I was using an Entertainment Weekly article about award season predictions to try and get ahead with this project, and luckily, all of the actresses that I made patterns for actually got nominations! None of these patterns should be too hard to stitch or perler bead, though, as the case will be again when I post the Best Actress patterns, Jennifer Lawrence's complicated American Hustle hairstyle makes her a bit taller than the rest of the patterns. Also, as is again the case with Jennifer Lawrence, if an actor or actress was also nominated last year, which is true of three of this year's nominees, I kept the same skin and eye floss colors for their patterns. I'm not sure that this is important to anyone other than myself, but I wanted to make sure that was the case.

Anyway, in alphabetical order, today's patterns of the nominees for Best Supporting Actress feature Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine), Jennifer Lawrence (American Hustle), Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave), Julia Roberts (August: Osage County), and June Squibb (Nebraska). All of the patterns were made of the roles for which the actresses were nominated, so it was not some sort of weird oversight that the pattern of June Squibb ended up being in black and white. I do like making black and white sprite patterns, though, so that wouldn't be so bad.

Before I quit blogging today, I want to post a couple of fuzzy photos of projects I'm working on! First of all, here is a photo of my plastic canvas cassette tape, which I'm stitching from a pattern in Jacqui Pearce's book, Big Stitch Cross Stitch. I'm actually almost done with this, so I'll be starting to stitch these Academy Award nominee patterns after the project is over. Now that I'm done with the stripes for the background, it seems to be going a lot more quickly.
I am also trying to make a circular rug out of the tiny rubber bands that they're selling for people to use in making bracelets. When I started this, I thought that it was probably a bad idea, but it's actually working out really well! Right now, it's about 11 and a half inches in diameter, so it's about the same size as a piece of printer paper. I want it to be quite a bit bigger, though, so it could take forever.
With that, I am done posting for tonight, but I should be back either tomorrow or Sunday with patterns of the nominees for Best Supporting Actor. Until then, have a nice start to your weekend and good luck with whatever crafts you're trying to do!

Sprite Patterns of the 2014 Academy Award Nominees for Best Supporting Actor

Hello! It's been a while since I last posted, because of technical problems and tons of homework, but today, I finally have the sprite patterns for the 2014 Academy Award nominees for Best Supporting Actor and am ready to post them! I'm feeling slightly woozy today, so this post isn't going to be very long, but I am happy with these patterns, despite the fact that trying to get the hair right from American Hustle might be the most difficult task I have ever tried to accomplish with any of my sprite patterns. (Actually, one of the nominees for Best Actress was really difficult, too, but that's going to be in my next post.) I don't know if anyone other than myself is going to stitch or perler bead these patterns, but if you do want to, I hope you like them! In alphabetical order, here are the tiny cross stitch patterns of the 2014 nominees for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, with the patterns depicting the roles for which they were nominated.
Barkhad Abdi, for Captain Phillips
Bradley Cooper, for American Hustle (The colors in the preview image for this are slightly inaccurate, so while it won't be perfect, the hair and facial hair will be a little better when it's actually stitched.)
Michael Fassbender, for 12 Years a Slave
Jonah Hill (you know, from Moneyball), for The Wolf of Wall Street
Jared Leto, for Dallas Buyers Club (This preview image has some problems, too, but unless you're going to get really upset when you stitch this and the purple shoes are a little brighter, it shouldn't be a problem.)

I had to go back and count my patterns to make sure that I had everything here, but since I came out with five sprite patterns posted, I think that I am doing okay! I am done here for now, but I hope to be back soon with sprite patterns of the nominees for Best Actress. Until then, have a nice weekend and good luck with your crafts and stuff!

Giant Patterns of Fluffy Bunny-Eared Anime Mascots with Varying Degrees of Indifference Toward the Value of Life

Hello! As I am typing this post, I do not know if it will make it to the internet or not. It is really nasty outside, as the town where I am going to school is in the middle of a windy snowstorm where we may get nine inches of snow and, for some reason, next to my apartment, there is ice underneath that snow. As no one can currently go outside or wander around and do anything, the internet is incredibly slow. Even if it was kind of funny that I went to Bing and the logo wouldn't load, it also sucks. Because of that, it seemed like a good time for a blog post. Even if it doesn't work right now, I can always copy and paste it to a word file and try to upload it later, in which case this ranting won't make much sense.

I have had a crapload of homework so far this semester, so I do not have the Academy Award nominees for Best Actress finished. I'm hoping to have them sometime this weekend, but for now, they are not finished and trying to conduct an image search to work on them seems like it could be counterproductive. I do, however, have two portrait patterns of anime mascot characters, one from a 90s show and one from a fairly recent one.

Because I like Tenchi Muyo better than the other show I'm about to start typing nonsense about, I'm posting my pattern of Ryo-Ohki first! I made this pattern right after I made the one of Luna, from Sailor Moon that I posted a while ago and was momentarily surprised that making a pattern of a character from a show that cost money to animate (the image I used was from the OAVs, so I guess it would have been easier to go Tenchi in Tokyo) would be so much more difficult than the last one I'd finished. It was worth it, though, because of all of the characters that I've made cross stitch patterns of while working on this blog, Ryo-Ohki is the only one that is both a cat and a rabbit, and is the only one that can turn into a spaceship. Plus, she's really cute, too, which is important in a mascot character. Just look how happy and fluffy she is! For this project, I'd recommend that you stick to the suggested floss colors, since there is more detail here than with my sprite patterns, but I think that it could be worth it. As with the other mascot character patterns, I plan to make this at some point, but I hope you guys like it, too!
In this next paragraph, I'm going to spoil some of an anime that is about 20 years old, and another one that I think is two years old, but am too impatient to google, and hint at the way some other shows go, so you are forewarned.

My next pattern for tonight is of Kyuubey from Madoka Magica, a show that I watched with people that were a lot more into it than I was. I do understand that it was weird and depressing, but a lot of magical girl shows are, like when they finally reach the queen in Magic Knight Rayearth, and she's like, "Hey, ladies! I'm the bad guy! You should make me dead," or the last chunk of Princess Tutu, which horrified me at an anime club (which I guess is just what happens when you let the guy who wrote a bunch of Hellsing and The Big O write the end of a show about a magical duck that can turn into a ballerina), or that thing where all these girls put squids on their heads and rollerbladed around their school and put stuff in cages and cried. I don't remember what that one was called, or if the girls in it were magical, but they did have to do a lot of stuff that displeased them while having incredibly round heads and maybe wearing T-shirts.

Anyway, what was impressive about Madoka Magica was when they dragged Joan of Arc and Cleopatra into it, which I don't think is much of a spoiler, because even if you know that ahead of time, it's still bizarre, and the fact that the mascot character, the aforementioned Kyubey, didn't really care what characters got killed off or why. I know that it is horrible, but when they had him sitting there, all cute and being a bunny, and explaining why they didn't matter, all I could think was that, in Sailor Moon land, there had to have been times when Sailor Moon went, "I am gonna eat nine bowls of ice cream and talk about boys and then try on shoes!" where that sort of thinking would not have been out of place. I was promptly called a heartless monster, but sometimes, this needs to be brought up.

Plus, Kyubey would make a good plastic canvas project.

I hope that, even if you didn't appreciate my endless typing as the wind blows something making a crunchy sound against my window, you like the pattern!
I'm done posting for tonight, but if tomorrow is even half as exciting as tonight is, I may post something again tomorrow! Until then, have a nice evening, and if you are also in this horrible weather, stay warm!

My Second Finished Project of 2014

Hello! Later this week, I am hoping to have some new patterns to post, but for tonight, I am just showing off my needlepoint cassette tape, which I finished stitching this morning! The pattern for this project came from Big Stitch Cross Stitch, a nifty book by Jacqui Pearce, and since I started this in early January, it officially took me way too long to stitch it. I'm really happy with how it came out, though, and am even happier that I can start a new project now. I still have a lot of plastic canvas, so I'm going to do something else that's bright and clunky looking, probably involving Pokemon, but I'm not sure what it will be yet. Regardless of that, though, here is a slightly less fuzzy than usual photo of my completed project! The background, which was made with Lion Brand bonbon yarn, is cross stitched, and the tape, which was stitched with balls of plain Red Heart yarn, is in half-stitches.
I should probably quit posting now, but before I go, I have one more beautiful photo that I've taken, of something that is may actually be the worst thing anyone has ever brought into any apartment in the history of humanity. Behold, my lovely McDonald's Happy Meal Lego Movie cups. When I first heard that these were a problem, the one with Vitruvius, the Morgan Freeman wizard, was still in the box, though I'm sure that everything will seem so much better once it is discovered that I have two of them. I have to say, though, that I think if you're reading Oscar Wilde while eating your Happy Meal, you should get some sort of "woo, classy!" points that cancel out whatever irritation your dishes are causing. However, the biggest lesson that I have learned from all of this is that there is a subtle line of acceptability between Hello Kitty cups and Lego cups, and I have certainly crossed it. I just wonder which side of that line my plates that look like pink sprinkled donuts are on.
I am done posting for now, but like I said at the start of this post, I should be back soon with new patterns and, hopefully, a picture of some sort of new plastic canvas project! Until then, have a nice start to your week and, if your weather has any similarities to mine in terms of its amount of cruddiness, good luck with that, too!

Sprite Patterns of the 2014 Academy Award Nominees for Best Actress

Hello! I finally finished the sprites for my 2014 Academy Award best actress nominee patterns, which weren't finished as quickly as I would have liked them to be. I ended up being pretty happy with most of them, too, even though there were a couple of actresses that were difficult to get to look distinct at all. However, I was much happier with these patterns several hours ago, which was before my cross stitch charting software read the Judi Dench sprite's hair as bright green and seemed to uninstall itself. As far as problems to have go, that seems to be a pretty interesting one, but it has made charting these patterns more tedious than it should have been. I am finally done, though, and ready to post the nominees for Best Actress! I should post these in alphabetical order, but since I spent a really long time on Sandra Bullock's astronaut suit, she gets to jump the line so that she can be this post's thumbnail image. If I spend that long on a pattern, everyone has to look at it. After that, however, the other nominees are in alphabetical order.
Sandra Bullock, for Gravity

Amy Adams, for American Hustle (This is the first time I've tried to do aviator sunglasses, and I think that it worked pretty well!)

Cate Blanchett, for Blue Jasmine

Judi Dench, for Philomena

Meryl Streep, for August Osage County (I don't hate this preview image, but when she is actually stitched, the difference between the two colors in her hair will not be quite that extreme.)

Right now, I am hungry and I feel like I spelled all of the actresses' names incorrectly, so I should quit blogging. Before I go, however, I want to post a photo of a plastic canvas Pokemon that I started stitching after feeling all inspired by TwitchTV Plays Pokemon. I'm not very far yet, so I feel like it's slightly cool and mysterious to make you guys wait and see what Pokemon this is, though I'm sure that a few of you will already know just from this. (If you do, comment and tell me! It would be cool.) I'm hoping to get a lot more of this done while I sit around tonight and watch House of Cards until my eyeballs fall out, though, so the next WIP photo will be much clearer.

With that, I am done for today, so I am going to go cook some sort of weird food with noodles in it. Before next Sunday, I'll have the sprite patterns of the nominees for Best Actor, which I already have close to half finished! There's one actor that is giving me trouble, but with today's advances made in sprite sunglasses, I think it will be much easier than I initially thought.

Sprite Patterns of the 2014 Academy Award Nominees for Best Actor

Hello! I've been doing homework like crazy, with one day this week involving my working on it for nine hours. Because of that, I wasn't able to get my sprite patterns for this year's nominees for Best Actor at the Academy Awards done as early as I wanted to. Tomorrow, however, is the actual day of the Academy Awards, which is close enough to a special occasion that I worked really hard tonight in order to get enough done that I didn't have to do much tomorrow. I did a bunch of discussion questions for a pretend syllabus for a pretend literature class that I'm making, and I was going to quit and work on my rubber band rug, but instead felt so productive that I decided to finish the Academy Award nominees pattern set for this year.

The five nominees for best actor were probably the hardest set of any of them to finish for this year. I got Bruce Dern and Chiwetel Ejiofor done pretty early, but past that, I had three problem actors. Christian Bale was so sleazy looking in American Hustle that it was difficult to get that to come across, Matthew McConaughey had a cowboy hat, which always makes things hard, and Leonardo DiCaprio kept ending up looking like Phoenix Wright. In the end, I think I did all right with these patterns, though Leonardo DiCaprio does, in fact, still look quite a bit like Phoenix Wright. I don't think that's necessarily bad, though, so, in alphabetical order, here are the sprite patterns for the 2014 Academy Award nominees for Best Actor.

Christian Bale, for American Hustle

Bruce Dern, for Nebraska

Leonardo DiCaprio, for The Wolf of Wall Street

Chiwetel Ejiofor, for Twelve Years a Slave (Again, the hair on this pattern will look better when stitched than it does in the preview image. KG Stitch and I are at war.)

and, finally, Matthew McConaughey, for Dallas Buyers Club

It is almost 1 am, so, despite the fact that people are yelling and ice is smacking into my window, I want to go to bed. I don't have any WIP photos of anything today, but in my next post, where I will have the idol singer silhouette pattern that I used for my first project of the year, I will hopefully have something I am working on. Until then, have a nice rest of your weekend and good luck with your crafts and stuff!

A Monochrome Idol Singer and Photos of a Model Kit in Progress

Hello! Today's post is not going to be really long, mostly because I have no attention span today. After I posted my stitching of the insignia from the "No Idols" signs that are posted all over the place in AKB0048, an anime about pop stars doing space battles and using really perky bubblegum music that occasionally seems like it would do more harm than good to bring joy to the people, I got a couple of requests for the pattern I used. It's a cute, frilly silhouette of an anime idol singer, and today, I am posting it. It's a bit bigger than even the monochrome Legend of Zelda patterns, and she's solid stitches, too, but it goes pretty quickly, and if you stitch her on plastic canvas, you get a gigantic final project. My stitched version of this actually keeps falling off of the wall, but eventually, I will get her to stay.

Anyway, for those of you who wanted the pattern, I hope you like it!

With that posted, it's time for my poorly taken photos of works in progress! I should probably post the stitching project I'm working on, but since that's currently a white blob on off white fabric, it isn't very interesting. What is cool, however, is the model giant robot I started working on last night! I went to a used games/DVDs/comic books/piles of whatever stuff they could get their hands on store yesterday and found a really inexpensive model kit that looked like it would be fun to build. When they used to have the Gundam models at Target and Wal-Mart, I built a few of those, though I didn't do it too well, and it seemed like it could be fun, and not that much of a loss, to do it again. I don't know much about the mech itself, but here is a less blurry than usual photo of the box.
After some in-depth googling, I have determined that this is from something called Knights of Ramune. I remember it getting bad reviews in anime magazines, which probably explains why there was a stack of this 90s kit in a store in central Illinois. At any rate, Kaiser Fire seems like a really lame name for a giant robot, so I've determined that mine will have a really awesome name, like Warlord Princess Sparkles.

I took this photo when I was really enthusiastic about the idea of getting the entire thing painted and done in one night. Today, I was going to be sitting at my desk, and Warlord Princess Sparkles was going to be on top of my TV, somewhere between the Happy Meal toy of Jake from Adventure Time and the little Lego girl pulling the ice cream cart. In reality, this is what I got done:

Things have actually regressed a bit since I took this photo. In this, two parts of the robot had been assembled, but now, I have taken them back apart because I don't need to stand this up to let the nail polish dry any more. (That's right, I'm using nail polish to paint my robot, because if the real paint that you guys use to paint your Gundams has fumes, requires top coat, and comes off with nail polish remover, I'm guessing that I can paint my cheap robot with nail polish.) Not everything is lost, though- if I can get a square centimeter of this painted each day, I might have this done by the time I'm done with grad school.

With that, I'm done for today, and I should actually probably review my reading for class tonight, seeing as I don't remember what it was about at all. My spring break starts the day after tomorrow, though, so I'm hoping to be able to post a little more frequently! Until then, have a nice day and good luck with your own crafting nonsense!

SPACESHIP! SPACESHIP! SPACESHIP! SPACESHIP!

Hello! Today, I don't have any WIP photos or anything, since I haven't done much of my robot painting or done a lot of cross stitch for the past few days, but I do have a pretty big cross stitch pattern for you guys! Since yesterday, I've been editing some coloring pictures from the Lego website, staring at pixels until my eyes felt wobbly, and using that to work on some monochrome cross stitch patterns of characters from The Lego Movie, mostly because I wanted them. I've done two of them so far, and as those of you who have seen the movie have probably guessed, today I'm posting one of Benny the Astronaut. If you have read this blog for more than a few posts, I don't imagine you'll be terribly shocked by which character shows up later this weekend, but for today, Benny seemed like the better choice. This isn't because the pattern is better or worse, but it is because I wanted to type "spaceship" over and over again in my blog title bar.

If you're planning to stitch Benny, as I eventually will, this is a little bigger than the monochrome Zelda patterns, but shouldn't be any more difficult than they are. The preview image for it was done in navy blue, but whatever color that you pick for it will probably be good. I wouldn't recommend stitching it in white on white fabric, but if that's what you want to do, I won't stop you. Anyway, here is the pattern!
With that posted, I'm done for today, but will have more patterns for you guys very soon! Until then, have a good day and good luck with your stitching and other stuff!

I Have Never Read The Mortal Instruments, But Here Is A Pattern From It!

Hello! To begin this post, I would like to state that I know very, very little about The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. I haven't read the books or seen the movies, and, that being said, I will probably say something that irritates a lot of fans of the series. I don't know what it would be, but these things happen, so I wanted to post a disclaimer before I got too far.

Anyway, earlier this week, I posted a pattern and Tiki, of the lovely blog Tiki Stitches, commenting if I'd make one of the runes from The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. I agreed to this, but really wasn't sure when I'd get it done, so I did not say anything very concrete about that part of it. Today, however, I have some reading to do for a class project, so the choice came down to my deciding if I would rather make the requested pattern or read John Smith's views on the colonization of the New World. Suddenly, making this pattern seemed very appealing!

I think that this pattern, of an angelic rune, is fairly small and not that complicated, so for anyone who wants to stitch it, it should go very quickly! The only issue that I can think of with it now is that I chose a gold embroidery floss for the suggested color, since I thought it would be cool if a rune looked like a treasure in an adventure movie. This is probably wrong, since my brief research makes it seem like these runes are magic tattoos more than treasure things, though this may also be an incorrect assumption. Luckily, the pattern is only one color, so you can pretty much do whatever you want with it, no matter what weirdo choice I've made. Keeping that in mind, I hope that you guys like this pattern.

With that posted, I actually do have a WIP photo today, of a cross stitch that I'm working on! I'm using the pattern of Kyubey from Madoka Magica that I made when I went on the mascot character pattern making spree, and it's going really quickly. I got a wooden hoop for it at Jo-Ann's today, partially because the 11-count Aida was wadding up like crazy and partially because I thought it would be nice to have a character like this in a lovely country sampler type of frame. Either way, I'm really enjoying stitching this project!
I'm done for today, but I actually still have quite a few patterns to post, so I'll be back again soon! As always, I have sprite patterns to post, and as for giant monochrome patterns, I have at least one more Lego Movie pattern, as well as a super-cool Pacific Rim one that I just found in my pattern backup folder! Until my next post, I hope you guys have a good rest of your Fridays and do well with your crafts!

A Monochrome Pattern of Uni-Kitty

Hello! This isn't going to be a very long post, since I was doing homework all afternoon and it fried my brain a little. I did, however, want to post my lovely monochrome pattern of Uni-Kitty from The Lego Movie! I made this pattern because I thought it would be cute, so some very deep thought went into my creation of this work. I know Uni-Kitty has other fans, though, so hopefully, I'm not the only one who stitches this.

This pattern is sized near identically to the Legend of Zelda monochrome patterns, so it should end up being a little smaller than Benny if you're going to make both Lego Movie patterns that I've posted. If there are any more characters that you guys would like, let me know! These were fun to make, and I think they'll look nice stitched up. For now, though, here is the lovely cross stitch pattern of Uni-Kitty.

With that posted, I have another WIP of my cross stitch of Kyubey (from Madoka Magica), which is the only cross stitch that I've been working. It's not very exciting to look at, but I'm getting really far on this project. I might have it done within a week!
I'm done blogging now, but I still have stuff to post and stuff I'm working on, so I'll be back pretty soon! Until then, have a good start to your week!
